Knowing the Will of God

This is a question that many of us have asked so many times down through our Christian walk. One of the main answers we hear is that: the Will of God is the Word of God, for God's Word is His Will. Yes, I whole heartedly agree with you. But can you be a little more elaborate?

I have seen down through the years, when it comes to finding God's will for my life, I learned to listen to His voice. I learned His Voice more and more by, being still before Him, spending time with Him. And whenever He would tell me to do something, and I do it. Then the particular thing happened like He said it would. I would say, ah, ah, that was the Lord. There and then I would compare other past and upcoming situations and learn more and more of His pattern, His way, shall I say. And so, when I thought it was Him speaking and that thing didn't happen, I would say, so ah, ah, that was not Him. I learned by that also by looking at the pattern(s) of that or those particular incidents, too. Also, keep in mind, though, there are times when the Lord speaks to you and you know He spoke to you and the adversary tries to make situations line up contrary to what you heard. That's when your stick to your guns or keep the faith until that thing manifests because you know you heard the Voice of God.

Then, there are other times in our Christian walk where God is more specific. And that is:

Suppose He tells Susie, I want you not to eat anything at all after 7 p.m. everynight until I say you can discontinue. This will be your fast as unto me. Suppose He tells James, you are to read your Bible aloud 30 minutes every day. Or He tells Jack you are to pray in tongues at 12 noon everyday for one hour (being Jack may be a retired man) and that is his free time or prayer time before the Lord. What I am simply saying here, is that the Lord has a generic will for all of us which is the "Word of God". Then, He gives us all specific things He wants us to do on a daily basis, weekly basis, etc., in accordance to our walk with Him, our consecration to Him or what He wants to accomplish for that day, that season, etc.

Now, when it comes to your career or your ministry which is a horse of a different color. I found the Will of the Lord for my life in my ministry/career by discovering what it was that I loved to do. Which is teaching the Word of God. I love exhorting. And God spoke and said, go on television. It's as if I am in "the zone" so to speak, when I teach. There is an anointing that rests upon me that let's me know that I am called to teach. What is that thing you love to do? Take it to God in prayer and see if that is what you are called to do.

Then, the Bible tells us that "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou wouldest prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers". Well, we see this is a scripture that plainly states the Lord will for our lives. So, we also look for scriptures on this line. Ones that plainly states God's will for our lives. Scriptures, like, It's not His will that any man should perish, but all should come to repentance. His Will is that no man perishes, but one has a choice in the matter, right. (Having a choice in the matter, right there is a whole nother subject. We won't go there this time). Another one is, Do not be unequally yoked with a unbeliever. His Will is that one marries one that is equally yoked with him/her. Yoke by your faith level being on the same level or one with a greater faith walk than you, especially if you are a woman. Because you are selecting a man who is going to be your head. Yoked by the calls upon your lives being compatible or compromisable because your marriage becomes a ministry. Yoked by your level of maturity and last but not least, yoke by both of you being "born again Christians and baptized in the Holy Ghost and fire with characteristics of the love of God flowing from your beings. A scripture like bring your tithes and offerings to the storehouse so that there may be meat in My house also tells His will. It's His will that meat be in the House of God for the needs of House to be met. But, most all because He wants to rebuke the devourer for our sakes and pour us out blessings we won't have room enough to receive. These are just a few of the scriptures. But I wanted to give you a clear thought of the kinds of scriptures to look for when looking for the Will of God for your life. The kind that answers questions about which road should I take when these questions arise as we travel down this road "called life". They clearly state the will of God for our lives.

So, let's go back to the scripture, Beloved, I would above all that you would prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers. Prosperity is the Will of God for you and I. Prosperity of the soulis taking place even as we are prospering in our wealth and health. Which sounds like to me, they all should be happening simultaneously because God used the words "even as" your soul prospers. This prospering of the soul, once again, is spending time before the Lord, learning to be still, being intimate with Him, shutting out all other voices for the quiet time and learning to hear and get your instructions from Him daily, which causes your wealth and health to be prosperous, too.

So, the Key to finding the Will of God for your life, is spending time with Him, in His Word, in His Presence, and in making Him your constant companion.

God Bless and live the phenomenal life that Jesus died for you to live.
